Self-worth & inner valuation

Understanding self-worth, shame and inner valuation

Perhaps you know the feeling of never being quite enough. You perform, adapt, compare yourself, and still that quiet sentence remains in the background: “The way I am is not enough.” This constant inner judgement costs strength. And often you no longer even notice that it is you yourself who is passing that judgement.

How outer judgement becomes inner valuation

Early on we learn that recognition often comes with conditions: performance, adaptation, “being good”. Over time we take on these standards. A voice from outside becomes a voice inside you. This is the core of what „Die innere Logik” calls the prison of valuation: no one has to judge you any more, you do it almost without pause yourself.

How to recognise the inner valuation

  • · You often feel “not good enough”, no matter what you achieve.
  • · You constantly compare yourself and usually come off worse.
  • · Criticism or rejection hits you deeply and echoes for a long time.
  • · You feel ashamed of feelings, mistakes or needs.
  • · Your worth feels like something you first have to earn.

Shame, guilt and the inner judge

A subtle but important difference: Guilt says “I did something wrong.” Shame says “I am wrong.” Guilt can be clarified. Shame makes you small and mute. In between sits the inner judge: the part that reads along, compares and condemns. Recognising it is the first step towards no longer believing its every word.

Gentle steps

  • · Notice when the judge speaks. It is a voice, not the truth.
  • · Change the tone: How would you talk to a person you love?
  • · Separate: Having a feeling does not mean being wrong.
  • · Self-contact instead of self-optimisation. It is not about becoming “better”, but about meeting yourself more honestly.

How the companion “The Prison of Valuation” can help you

On the platform you go step by step through exactly this dynamic: Where do you tie your worth to conditions? What valuation arises? And who are you when your worth no longer depends on judgement? You can try the first four chapters for free, in your own tempo. During the build-up phase all chapters are free.
